Meet our team

The Online Curriculum and Digital Innovation team has three major functions:

  1. We assist academic units as they move through the process of bringing new programs into the ASU Online space, including new program requests, levels of approval, and onboarding.
  2. We coordinate curricular communications and implement innovation initiatives within The College on behalf of the Dean's Office. 
  3. We provide Instructional Design oversight and professional development opportunities for academic units and instructors within The College through coordination of training events, course design consultations, and connection to resources.

Gemma Garcia, Director of Online Curriculum and Innovation 

Gemma Garcia has worked at ASU for over 20 years supporting faculty with instructional technology implementation and instructional design. In her current role as Director of Online Curriculum and Digital Innovation, she provides support for units within The College with existing and new online degree programs. She also is responsible for strategic planning and implementing of The College digital initiatives.

Gloria Minnihan, Assistant Director of Online Curriculum and Digital Innovation

As the Assistant Director, Gloria focuses on providing the college with support by facilitating communication between different units to accomplish the college’s curricular goals for both online and ground programs and courses.

Kena Ray, Manager of Instructional Design

As the Manager of Instructional Design, Kena provides faculty training on online teaching best practices, Canvas usage, and course development. She also consults faculty on online curriculum, pedagogy, and tool integration before and during the course approval process, working to optimize course quality and instructional alignment while scaling for large enrollments for a diverse global student population.  

Sam Miquirray, Instructional Design Specialist

As the Instructional Design Specialist, Sam is in charge of project management, program tracking, meeting coordination, and facilitating faculty development and training. Sam also has over 5 years of experience with LMS systems including Canvas and Blackboard.
